Hikers walking a trail through a green alpine valley

Small-group retreats

Since 2014

Retreats for the quietly restless.

Seven days somewhere slow. Morning practice, long tables, walks without a destination, and hosts who know when to leave you alone.

01

The idea

We make small retreats in quiet places, for people who need a real pause and not another itinerary.

Every Better Retreat stay is built around the same few things: a beautiful house, a short list of practices done well, food from the people next door, and a lot of time with nothing scheduled. We cap groups at fourteen and host every retreat ourselves.

03

How we host

Fewer people. Longer pauses. Better food.

I

Small on purpose

Never more than fourteen guests, so teachers learn your name and nobody gets lost at the back of the room.

II

Practice, then space

Two sessions a day at most. Everything else is optional, including the excursions.

III

Local, all the way down

We cook with neighbours’ produce, hire local guides and stay in houses run by the families who own them.

04

Where we go

Five houses, chosen slowly

Each venue is one we have stayed in for years before hosting a single guest there.

05

What to expect

Everything taken care of, nothing overdone.

Prices include your room, every meal, all sessions and shared transfers. You bring comfortable clothes and an open diary.

Accommodation

Characterful rooms in restored farmhouses, lodges and villas, with linen, robes and proper mattresses.

Practice & activities

Yoga, breathwork, walking, writing or kayaking, depending on the retreat. Always optional, always small-group.

Food

Three seasonal meals a day from local growers, mostly vegetarian and cooked for every diet.

Nature

Every house sits within walking distance of water, forest or open country.

Shared moments

Long tables, evening fires and conversations that carry on after the plates are cleared.

06

A day at the Olive Grove

Farm eggs, warm bread, figs and plenty of time.

Midday

Unscheduled

17:30

Yin and yoga nidra

A slow evening practice as the light turns gold.

20:00

Dinner under the vines

Three courses from the garden, with local wine.

Candlelit outdoor dinner table set with glassware and greenery

Minimal bedroom with linen bedding and a bedside lamp

07

Guest stories

In their words

I arrived wound so tight I couldn’t sit through a class. By Thursday I was asleep by ten and laughing at dinner. I’ve booked again for spring.

Tomas pitched every day perfectly. Hard enough to feel it, easy enough to look up. The floating sauna at midnight is something I’ll never forget.

I finished the chapter I had been avoiding for two years. Clara’s feedback was honest and generous in exactly the right amounts.
